The recent webinar “Guiding Through Change: Impacts on Today’s Imaging Workforce” sponsored by Advanced Health Education Center (AHEC) and was approved for 1.0 ARRT Category A CE credit by the AHRA.
The imaging workforce has faced many challenges over the past three years. The pandemic has changed the landscape for staff and leadership. In the webinar, AHEC CEO Jence Cantu examined staffing trends before and after COVID. She also discussed staffing challenges in the “new norm.”
Cantu also touched on:
- Trends such as: The Great Resignation, Quiet Quitting, Quiet Firing
- Generational effects on the workforce: The Silver Tsunami, Gen Z
- Salary expectations post pandemic
- What Work / Life Balance really means
- Radiology specific challenges with open positions
- Areas that can be addressed for engagement
Attendees also participate in a question-and-answer session to gather additional insights. Some of the questions asked were:
- How can I expect my other staff to try and when they are already burnt out or short staffed?
- Have you seen hospitals partnering with schools and funding educator positions at schools?
A recording of the webinar is available for on-demand viewing at ICEwebinars.live. The on-demand webinar incudes the complete Q&A session.
Attendees provided feedback via a survey that included the question, “Why do you join ICE webinars?”
“To gain knowledge from others’ expertise in areas that I may have challenges,” said Jessica Gregory, radiology supervisor, Texas Health Harris Methodist Southwest Fort Worth.
“I join when I see an interesting topic, a presenter I want to support and enjoy the flexibility of joining in person or watching it later,” VA Puget Sound Health Care System Health System Specialist John Beall, said.
“Review tactics to address or best practices during this staff challenged period within imaging nationally,” said Jeffrey Geiger, manager, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
