Ultrasound Service: Reliability begins with Prevention
This presentation, led by Jim Rickner, Director of Service and Training at AUS, will teach imaging engineers the importance of completing PMs in spite of many OEMs stating that PMs are no longer required. He will also demonstrate the cost savings and improved uptime of systems.
Attendees will learn:
– The importance of completing preventative maintenance on ultrasound systems.
– Cost savings of doing PMs in house.
– Pay me now or pay me later concept.
– Steps that make-up a complete PM.

This presentation, led by Jim Rickner, Director of Service and Training at AUS, provides a comprehensive overview of how to verify ultrasound image quality using a tissue mimicking phantom. The course covers the fundamental principles of image quality, including the challenges of subjectivity in assessing image degradation over time. Participants will explore key parameters that influence ultrasound imaging, such as detail resolution, image uniformity, contrast resolution, temporal resolution, dynamic range, spatial discrimination, and bandwidth. A significant focus is placed on understanding axial, lateral, and transverse resolution, including how frequency impacts penetration and image clarity. The training then transitions into practical phantom testing, demonstrating how to perform and interpret critical evaluations including sensitivity/penetration testing, axial/lateral resolution testing, contrast resolution assessment, and geometric accuracy measurements (both vertical and lateral).
