Steph Voigt, RT (R)(MR), is the director of women’s imaging and practice support/CT applications with Consulting Radiologists Ltd. Over the past 30 years, she worked hard to improve her skills and leadership acumen. She even kicked it into overdrive to navigate a brief detour and exit from urgent care clinic work.
“I believe it is important to take on new and challenging opportunities. While stepping outside of one’s comfort zone can be difficult, doing so often reveals strengths and perspectives that add value to both the individual and the broader team,” Steph says about her journey.
Her imaging career began after completing X-ray school in 1999. She joined a mobile imaging company that provided MRI training and took aim at a career goal.
“I worked as a mobile MRI technologist for three years. While working independently presented challenges due to limited opportunities for peer consultation, the experience accelerated my learning and strengthened my ability to problem-solve and think creatively,” Steph shares.
After some time with Consulting Radiologists Ltd. (CRL) as an MRI technologist and clinic manager she accepted a position with OptumHealth, where she supported operational efforts for the opening of urgent care clinics in Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada.
“After one year, the role did not align with my professional goals, prompting me to seek new opportunities,” she says. “In 2013, I returned to CRL as a clinic manager at a different location and remained in this role until 2018, when I was promoted to practice support manager and CT applications specialist.”
She moved up to her current title with added responsibilities in 2025 and continues to serve as the CT applications specialist for the organization.
One of her many accomplishments includes how she advanced into a leadership position.
“I consider it a significant accomplishment to have progressed from an MRI technologist to a director-level role without obtaining a bachelor’s or master’s degree,” Steph says when asked to describe her greatest accomplishment. “Throughout my career, I actively sought opportunities to participate in projects that expanded my knowledge and experience across multiple areas of the organization.”
Patient safety is a strong motivator for Steph, especially when it comes to workflow solution implementation and lifting team members up whenever she has a chance.
“I am passionate about process improvement and helping others develop new skills to enhance their success. I strive to empower team members to be creative, collaborate effectively and work toward shared goals that support organizational success while delivering the highest quality patient care,” she says.
“I have always believed in leading by example and would never ask my team to do anything I am not willing to do myself,” she adds. “When making decisions, I feel it is important to include those who will be most impacted, ensuring their perspectives are considered and valued.”
Her approach was no doubt influenced by her mentors, including a previous supervisor.
“My most influential mentor was my supervisor from 2013-2016. Although he has since moved on to another organization, he played a significant role in my development by teaching me how to effectively prioritize projects, think creatively and approach decisions from multiple perspectives,” Steph says. “He exemplified a leadership style focused on empowering others to grow and lead themselves.”

When asked, “What else would you like ICE Magazine readers to know about you or your journey?” she encourages everyone to stand tall and continue moving forward.
She speaks from experience and would not ask anyone to do something she is not willing to do.
She is married to her high school sweetheart and the couple has two “beautiful” adult daughters.
“In my free time, I enjoy working out, playing golf, and spending time with my family,” Steph says. “I recognize that work‑life balance looks different for everyone, but over the years I have learned that not all phone calls and emails require immediate attention.”
