Carestream’s Latest Digital X-ray Technology Being Used at 2019 NFL Combine

High-Quality Medical Images Help Assess Players’ Health

In addition to demonstrating speed, agility and strength at the 2019 National Football League Scouting Combine, top college football players also undergo comprehensive physical evaluations that include X-ray exams. This year the new CARESTREAM DRX-Transportable System/Lite (see video link) will capture high-quality diagnostic images in seconds using the existing X-ray system at Lucas Oil Stadium (Indianapolis, Ind.).

The DRX-Transportable System/Lite includes a wireless CARESTREAM DRX Core 3543 detector that transmits images to a tablet. An additional Carestream detector will capture imaging exams ordered by team physicians to evaluate athletes’ health. Carestream DRX detectors have been used at the NFL Combine for eight consecutive years.

NFL coaches, general managers and scouts who are preparing to draft new players will evaluate more than 300 top prospects at the annual Combine.

One of the company’s newest medical imaging systems—the CARESTREAM OnSight 3D Extremity System (see video link) — enables sports medicine and orthopaedic specialists to capture 3D weight-bearing images of hands, wrists, elbows, knees, feet and ankles, which provide important diagnostic information that is not available from traditional CT systems and other types of patient extremity exams. This compact system can fit into a medical room at a sports facility.
