James Blandi

SPBS Inc. of Flower Mound, Texas has added James Blandi as vice president of sales and marketing. Blandi brings more than 20 years of sales leadership experience in the HTM and imaging sector to the position, including time spent in managerial and executive roles with Insight Imaging, Shared Imaging, LFC Capital and SouthWest Medical Resources.

 

NuVasive Inc. of San Diego, California has updated its organizational structure behind new CEO J. Christopher Barry, appointed in November 2018. In addition to his role as general counsel, Nate Sisitsky will also oversee the NuVasive Real Estate and Facilities function.

 

Chief Compliance Officer Jim Garrett will assume an expanded role overseeing business and quality systems functions. Vice President of Human Resources and Sales Training Lucas Vitale has been promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer.

 

Gary Lee

LIGHTMED Corporation of San Clemente, California, re-appointed its founder and Executive Chairman Gary Lee as CEO, succeeding Shlomo Alkalay, who will revert to a consultancy role. Director of Business Development Jennifer Lee also has been named GM of the Americas, effective immediately.

 

ImaginAb Inc. of Los Angeles, California added Friedhelm Blobel, former president and CEO of SciClone Pharmaceuticals Inc. as an independent, non-executive member of its board of directors. Blobel is a member of the boards of ImaginAb, ENTvantage, and SciClone Pharmaceuticals International Ltd, and holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry and microbiology from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. Additionally, consultant Ivan Plavec, president-founder of the Ascellna Life Science Group, has also been added as ImaginAB’s chief business officer.

 

Joe Reilly

The Baltimore, Maryland-based Canton & Company has added Joe Reilly as chief technology innovation officer. Reilly was previously CIO for the Central New York Care Collaborative (CNYCC), and has held positions with St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, HealtheConnections, and NexSched. He has an MPH from SUNY Upstate Medical University & Maxwell School of Syracuse University.

 

AdminaHealth LLC of Greenwich, Connecticut has named Neil Kaufman as its CTO. Kaufman was formerly CIO at Drayer Physical Therapy Institute.

 

Steve Chapman

Natera Inc. of San Carlos, California promoted COO Steve Chapman to CEO, succeeding Natera co-founder Matthew Rabinowitz, who will remain with the company as its executive chairman. Natera also added former IntegenX CEO Robert Schueren as its new COO.

 

Clinical Genomics of Bridgewater, New Jersey named Betsy Hanna as president, CEO, and a member of its board of directors. Hanna succeeds outgoing CEO Lawrence LaPointe, who will transition to chief innovation officer and an advisor to the board. Hanna joined Clinical Genomics from Origin Inc., where she was president and COO.

 

Joseph Lamelas

The University of Miami Health System of Miami, Florida has added physician Joseph Lamelas, a pioneer of minimally invasive approaches to cardiac surgery, as its chief of cardiothoracic surgery and professor of surgery within the Miller School of Medicine.

 

Private equity fund Health Enterprise Partners of New York, New York, has promoted Ezra Mehlman to managing partner. Mehlman has been with the firm for seven years, having previously worked for the Advisory Board Company and Booz Allen Hamilton.

 

Aldeyra Therapeutics Inc. of Lexington, Massachusetts promoted David McMullin to chief commercial officer.

 

Matt Eastwood

McCann Health of New York, New York has named Matt Eastwood its global chief creative officer. Previously, Eastwood was worldwide chief creative officer at J. Walter Thompson Co.

 

IGM Biosciences Inc. of Mountain View, California (IGM), named Misbah Tahir to its newly created CFO position. Tahir has spent twenty years in finance and strategic planning, most recently as vice president and head of finance at Dermira Inc.

 

Brammer Bio of Cambridge, Massachusetts has added Chief Quality Officer Steve Falcone from Sanofi, promoted Chief Manufacturing Officer Chris Murphy to COO, and appointed Vice President of Finance and Accounting Steve Favaloro to CFO.

 

Jeffrey Grossi

The Sheppard Pratt Health System of Baltimore, Maryland added Jeffrey Grossi as its chief of government relations. Grossi most recently served as a senior government affairs specialist for the University of Maryland, Baltimore; he has also worked in policy analysis and compliance at the Johns Hopkins University.

 

Aegis Living of Seattle, Washington has named Kris Engskov its new president, succeeding the retiring Judy Meleliat. Engskov, who will officially assume the position in late Spring 2019, has also worked for Starbucks, Madrona Venture Group, and was an assistant press secretary and personal aide to Bill Clinton.

 

E-Scape Bio of San Francisco, California, has added Carrolee Barlow as its chief medical officer. Barlow most recently was CEO of the Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center, has been the acting chief medical officer at Amicus Therapeutics, and the chief medical officer and chief scientific officer of BrainCells Inc.

 

Lee Shapiro

Livongo Health of Mountain View California named Lee Shapiro its CFO. Shapiro, who has been on the Livongo board since its founding, and who chaired its audit committee, will take on the new role in February 2019.

 

Endotronix Inc. of Lisle, Illinois has added Jim Yearick as senior vice president of sales and marketing. Yearick joins Endotronix from HeartWare, which was acquired by Medtronic in August 2016.

 

Rusty Gage

The La Jolla, California-based Salk Institute extended the presidency of Rusty Gage another five years. Gage has been on the faculty of the Salk Institute since 1995, and also belongs to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Medicine, the National Academy of Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society.

 

FEI Systems of Columbia, Maryland has named Fran Jensen as its chief medical officer. For the past 10 years, Jensen has been a leader, medical officer, and project officer at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

 

HealthGrowth Capital of Austin, Texas promoted interim Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) George Fencl to CMO. Fencl spent time at Y&R in New York and specialty agency Giant Creative Strategy in San Francisco.
