Jaewon Ryu

Geisinger of Danville, Pennsylvania has named Jaewon Ryu its interim president and CEO. Ryu has been its EVP and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) since September 2016, suceeding David T. Feinberg, who is leaving Geisinger in January 2019, to assume a leadership role at Google.

 

Ryu was previously president of integrated care delivery for Humana in Louisville, Kentucky, has been CMO at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System in Chicago, and has held various leadership roles at Kaiser-Permanente, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and has been a White House Fellow at the Department of Veterans Affairs. An emergency medicine physician with a license to practice in California, Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, Ryu currently serves as a Commission Member for The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), as a member of the board of directors of MyHealthDirect, and holds medical and law degrees from The University of Chicago.

 

Cain A. Hayes

Gateway Health of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has named Cain A. Hayes its president and CEO. Hayes joins Gateway Health from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, where he served as president and COO of the Health Business. Prior to joining Blue Cross, Hayes was president of National Accounts, president of the Mid-Atlantic region and president of the Government-sector and Labor division for Aetna.

He replaces five-year CEO Patti Darnley, who left Gateway Health Plan in August 2018.

 

Strata Oncology of Ann Arbor, Michigan named Scott A. Tomlins as Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Tomlins was an associate professor of pathology at the University of Michigan.

 

Sutro Biopharma of San Francisco, California named Shalini Sharp, CFO and EVP  of Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Inc., to its board of directors. Sharp also is a member of the boards of directors of Array BioPharma Inc., and of the TB Alliance. She formerly worked in corporate strategy and corporate development at Elan Pharmaceuticals, plc, was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, and was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. Sharp holds a B.A. and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.

 

Shannon Schaul

Catapult Health of Dallas, Texas promoted VP of sales Shannon Schaul to chief sales officer. Schaul began her career in the health and wellness field in 2004, serving as account manager for WinningHabits.

 

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. of Waltham, Massachusetts named Jim Mullen to its board of directors, bringing its total membership to 12. Mullen previously served as CEO of Patheon N.V. from February 2011 until the company was acquired by Thermo Fisher in 2017. Prior to that, he was with Biogen Idec, Inc. for 22 years, serving as president and CEO from 2000 to 2010. Mullen is also currently a director at Insulet Inc. and Editas Medicine Inc. He holds a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in business from Villanova University.

 

Andrew J. Gerber

Silver Hill Hospital of New Canaan, Connecticut has named Andrew J. Gerber its president and medical director, effective November 26.  Gerber is currently the medical director/CEO at Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Gerber is an associate clinical professor in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University, an adjunct associate clinical professor at the Child Study Center at Yale University, and an adjunct associate professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences at University of Massachusetts Amherst. Gerber completed his medical and psychiatric training at Harvard Medical School, Cambridge Hospital, and Weill Cornell and Columbia medical schools, and his psychoanalytic training at Columbia.

 

Carl Berglind

CEI Vision Partners of Cincinnati, Ohio has named Carl Berglind VP of mergers and acquisitions. Berglind was most recently SVP of strategic transactions at Envision Healthcare.

 

Akiri of Foster City, California named Jeff Miller its COO. Miller was CEO of the North Carolina Health Information Exchange (NCHIE), has worked at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, IBM, Deloitte Consulting, DXC Technology, and Surescripts.

 

The Baltimore-based Remedi SeniorCare has named Jared Romine VP of sales – west division. Romine formerly ran a sales division for a start-up specialty pharmacy group, a large sales division of a leading long-term care pharmacy provider, and has more than ten years in long-term care, including pharmacy sales, cloud-based technology, and remote dispensing.

 

Premier Radiology Services of Miami, Florida, named Jonathan S. Luchs its Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Luchs began his time with Premier as a medical director, and later was invited to become a partner in the firm. Luchs will continue to be the physician liaison to the marketing and business development team in addition to his new responsibilities. He began his career in academic medicine, trained as a fellow at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and was an instructor of the Society of Skeletal Radiology Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course for several years.

 

Paul King

Stanford Children’s Health of Stanford, California named Paul King president and CEO of Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and Stanford Children’s Health, effective in 2019. King is executive director at University of Michigan Health System’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital. He will succeed interim CEO Dennis Lund, who took over from former CEO, Chris Dawes. King serves on several boards, including those of the Children’s Hospital Association and the American Hospital Association Maternal & Child Health Council.

 

Deloitte of New York, New York named Doug Beaudoin to lead its life sciences and health care (LSHC) practice in the United States and Stephen Burrill to lead its health care sector. Beaudoin will also continue to serve as Deloitte’s global and U.S. LSHC consulting leader; Burrill has more than 35 years of experience serving clients across the health care spectrum; he formerly led Deloitte’s health care providers practice.

 

Divurgent of Virginia Beach, Virginia has named Robert Leahey as a principal; formerly, he was VP of Consulting Services for Axiom Systems, Inc.

 

Trisha L. Coady

HealthStream of Nashville, Tennessee promoted Trisha L. Coady to SVP and GM of Clinical Solutions. Coady was most recently VP and GM of Clinical Staff Development Solutions; prior to joining HealthStream, she was the healthcare practice manager at Bluedrop Performance Learning; Founder & President of MedSenses and the Nurses Network; and a registered nurse at several healthcare organizations. Coady started her career with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Moncton in the Canadian province of New Brunswick.
