Rylie Pattison, CNMT, RT(N)(CT), earned a Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences and a Bachelor of Science at the University of Findlay before embarking on her imaging career. It is a career that already includes leadership responsibilities in her role as team lead nuclear medicine technologist with University Hospitals Parma Medical Center. ICE Magazine recently asked this rising star about her background and her plans for the future.

As a self-proclaimed “geek,” Karen Mihalic, RT (R), (M), ARRT, serves as the director of imaging/admin team member for WVU Medicine Barnesville Hospital and WVU Medicine Harrison Community Hospital. However, the word “geek” can have negative connotations. She is more of a cool intellectual with a knack for critical thinking that empowers her to bring top-tier diagnostic imaging to the rural community the WVU Health System serves.

The IAC is a nonprofit organization in operation to evaluate and accredit facilities that provide diagnostic imaging, therapeutic and interventional procedures, thus improving the quality of patient care provided in private offices, clinics and hospitals where such services are performed.

Jennifer Ellis, ARRT; R.T. (R), earned a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Keiser University in Melbourne, Florida to go with an Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology. Her education continued on the job where she is now an imaging supervisor with Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital.

Leah Hudkins, RT(R)(MR), MRSO, continues to seek out continuing education opportunities as she reaches new heights in diagnostic imaging. Her education is impressive with an associate degree in radiography, a bachelor’s in medical imaging technology and a master’s in radiologic and imaging sciences.

When Dr. Refky Nicola isn’t in the classroom or the imaging department, you might find him in the recording studio, preparing for a podcast. In addition to working as an associate professor of radiology at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, and as chief of radiology services at Community General Hospital of Greater Syracuse, Nicola has spent the past three years working as an assistant editor of the Radiology Journal and RadioGraphics podcasts.

When Omar W. Jarrah launched FDM Enterprises, he wasn’t looking to reinvent the wheel. He just wanted to make sure the wheel – whether it belonged to an MRI, CT scanner, or injector – was turning smoothly. After 25 years in the medical imaging trenches and a career that started in the U.S. Army, Omar knew there was room to improve how service and support were delivered in the imaging space.

MU Health Care Radiology Supervisor Beth Benne’s imaging career has not taken her far from home. She graduated from a nearby high school. She earned an Associates of Science degree in radiology from Sanford-Brown in Kansas City and a Bachelor of Biology from Stephens College.
